beginning of 21st century, 2017, B/W video,
dimensions variable
Angeliki Douveri’s work is part of a series of videos that she started making in 2001. In all of them, a pair of hands form, on an empty surface, a sequence of words made up by scrubble letters. In -less than normal, the succession of words refers to the “loss of the familiar”, creating free associations around comfort, wandering, lost hope.

In  Kyriaki Mavrogeorgi’s FAR AWAY FROM HOME installation, small scale sculptures form asequentialnarrative. The concept of processionhelps to grasp historical change, where the stories of people unravel often in dramatic ways. The scale of the sculptures which make up the installation, demand the closest possible viewing, allowing the viewer to familiarize with the drama of each consisting element.

Maria Ikonomopoulou, Close, 2017,
Cut-outs, prints on Ηahnemühle paper, pins
90 x 130 x 6 cm.
Maria Ikonomopoulou uses iron door motifs that she has been photographing for years to create het work Close. She uses paper cut-outs and prints to create a surface which relates to a double iron gate, where traces of an archetypal form of house are also apparent. The door and the railings indicate the barrier between private and public space. The ambiguity of the titlerefers to something shut, as well as something familiar.
